After a full days work it was time to relax in nice surroundings with some of Annaīs Danish motives on the walls. On TV there was a lot of choices of films among about 80 channels. Or we could "relax" by watching CNN with horror updates from hurricane "George" sweeping through the Gulf of Mexico. Or listen to endless statements about the crazy ongoing Clinton impeachment process. The full video tape of the Star investigation was released during our first week in Pittsburgh. This really demonstrated to us the greatness and fairness of American Democracy. But on the other hand it was also scaring to watch how the republicans took political advantages without any respect for the privacy of the Clinton family. Fortunately Clinton is gifted with the ability to distract from these allegations as he elegantly demonstrated when he gave a fabulous speech to the UN Assembly specifically addressed to the honorable guest Mr Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

South Negley.

Michaelīs appartment (Jens and Michael in front of the entrance) is situated on South Negley conveniently close to the Carnegie Mellon University. The surroundings are green and quiet and close to Walnut Street, which is a very nice (but expensive) shopping street with small restaurants. The walking distances to the two universities (Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh) are a convenient half hour. Both universities have beautiful buildings and very nice campuses. The monumental tower of the University of Pittsburgh is a good location guidance when you are not able to find your way back from all the hilly areas of the city with streets which are far from straight as in most American cities.

Down-Town Pittsburgh.

Two rivers, Allegheny and Monongahela, meet just west of down-town Pittsburgh to form the outflowing Ohio River. There are some very nice and well maintained steel bridges which crosses these rivers.Anna is standing in front of one of these bridges with down-town office buildings as background.
