From Midland we went to Toronto. A very busy and noisy metropolitan area; quite a
contrast to the scenery along the Lake Huron. We parked in the center of downtown and
walked around for an hour among the skyscrapers and to the famous tower. We then continued
southwards on a very busy highway to Niagara Falls, where we easily found a centrally
located motel for the night among a lot of choices. In the evening we went down to the
falls. The motel was situated in a convenient walking distance to the falls. From the
Canadian side we had a nice view to the American Falls. Later on at night the falls were
lightened by projectors in a nice spectrum of colours. The Canadian Falls are the most
impressive. The falls form a half circle and are named Horse Shoe Falls. After having
admired the light show we visited one of the many restaurants and went to the casino. The
next morning we had to return to Pennsylvania. We stopped by the American Falls on the
American Niagara. We went to a small island in the Niagara River where you have a
beautiful look to both falls. When you walk along the Niagara River here you hardly spot
the huge falls. The water is quite rough and you can hear some thundering noise in front
of you. Further approaching the falls you see the fume and you begin spotting the gap.
Finally at the edge you watch the whole wall of water thundering down. One may wonder how
many pioners have drifted to the edge in the old times not knowing what a thrilling jump
they would have to make. In the park we also spotted an interesting small creature this
morning. A black squirrel was enjoying the sun. We even got a picture of the squirrell.

When we arrived in Pennsylvania following highway 79 for Pittsburgh the
sun had returned. It was a very relaxing drive and quite warm so we had a nice stop at a
rest area. And the fall colors had also finally come to the Pennsylvanian forests.

After two days further in Pittsburgh it was finally time to start packing.
Michael drove us back to Dulles Airport on a Sunday morning. We had a relaxing stop at a
rest area at the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Blue Star Memorial Highway). In the airport we had
a nice Burger at Fridays. And then sadly enough we had to fly back to Denmark. We have
many plans for our next visits to the States. So please look for further travelogues at
our homepages.
