Rhapsody of the Seas, like the other vessels of the “Vision Class”, was built for world wide cruising. All cabins, thus, are significantly roomier than was the case on previous classes of Royal Caribbean vessels. Category F staterooms, identical in design to those designated H, and I, provide passengers with 153 square feet (8.9 by 17.5 feet)of comfortable surroundings in which to spend up to several weeks of cruising. Storage and drawer space is suitable for those who will be bringing with them the normal amounts of excessive clothing. Compulsive over packers, or those quartering with more than two in the cabin, may be wise to avoid some of the excess! Accommodations consist of twin beds, convertible to queen size with connecting pads forming a single, almost seamless mattress. Unlike with some ships, once converted, these are queen sized beds, made up as such. They are not two twins pushed together! Bunks for third and fourth passengers are stored in the ceiling, rather than the typical, space robbing, location, against the walls, making the cabins more spacious than their actual dimensions would indicate. The cabin television situates on an extendable, swivel base, which can be pulled from the desk, and turned to face the guests while lying in bed. Windows in category I are split, and, while not portholes, are smaller than those in Cats H and F (14 by 28 inches). All staterooms on Rhapsody, provide separate sitting areas, with a love seat or small couch, depending on whether the cabin adjoins another or not (adjoining cabins require space to allow the door to swing, so the couch is replaced with the smaller love seat.). A control, separate from the television, controls volume of on board announcements. A keypad operated safe is located in a cabinet above the dresser. Bathrooms, particularly shower stalls, remain on the small side. The typical refrain of “don’t drop the soap in the shower” continues on this ship. If you do, you’ll find yourself inventing new ways of stooping to recover it! Otherwise, the bathrooms are serviceable, with plenty of storage space on both sides of the mirror, and below the sink. A retractable clothesline stretches over the shower to provide drying facility for wet swim suits. There is no hairdryer or refrigerator! Overall, these are good choices for cruisers wishing to experience the facilities and service on the ship without spending their life’s savings to do so. The cabin, while comfortable, will not tempt you to remain inside, missing much of the activities and events going on around the ship. It’s designed to provide comfortable sleeping, changing, and bathing facilities, which it does, admirably. Otherwise, get out and enjoy the ship! All cabins on Rhapsody are provided with comprehensive Room Service Menus including the option of ordering from the FULL DINING ROOM MENU during Lunch (12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.) and Dinner (6:30 to 9:30 p.m.).
