Karsiarsuk was the Greenlander village across the fijord from Narsarsuaq. The only way to get there was by boat in the summer or across the ice
in winter. In the village was the remains of several buildings said to have been built by Eric the Red during his exploration of the coasts of
Greenland, Iceland and North America.
