M/V Annie Johnson III (SLFT)

Built at Wärtsilä Shipyard, Åbo, Finland as new construction, hull number 1170. She was launched   in April 1, 1969 and delivered in  September 1, 1969. She was sold in January 6, 1986 to the Greek ships owner Antonis Lelakis and his Regency Cruises and registered on Peleus Marine Co, Cyprus. The plan was to convert her into the modern cruiser ship Regent Moon, but things didn´t quite happen that way and the ship was sold the same year to Naples´ Mediterranean Shipping Company and registered on Compania Naviera Panalexandra Sa, and she went back to hauling boxes renamed to Alexandra. With some prodding from the Italian government Costa Crociere bought the ship and she entered the T.Mariotti yards in Genoa in 1990, and between 1990-1992 she was converting to a beautiful cruiser ship with four  new powerful engines Wärtsilä 6R46 at 19.123 kW. at 450 rpm. and lengthening with 13,5 meter. Her name was under the rebuilding  Costa Azzurra. Then she was launched she renamed to Costa Allegra and she leave the shipyard in December 1992 for Costa Cruise Lines N.V.  She was from the beginning equipped with two Wärtsiläbuilt Pielstick engine 16PC2-V and two 12PC2-V delivering 19.136 kW. She was at 16080 tons d.w. and had a speed at 23 knot.
