AIUD
STRAßBURG-A M

AIUD is a beautiful historic city founded by the saxons north of Alba Iulia. Numerous archeological vestiges speak of human settlements existing in the region during the Neolithic era and the Copper, Bronze and Iron Ages as well as the Roman and pre-feudal periods. Prehistoric settlements and Scythian and Celtic graveyards were unearthed as well as numerous artifacts wich attest that the Thracian settlements flourished in the region before and after the Romans conquered and colonised the region. However, the saxons colonised in Transylvania around year 1200, built the urban settlement of Aiud on the estate of the roman-catholic episcopate of Alba Iulia.
