The barge is
craned over, on a foreshore. It's then carefully caulked, and
resheathed in hard-wood planks. Sheathing is an old trick. The
toredo worm that attacks timbers will bore into the hard-wood,
which in a few years can be peeled off, and replaced with new
sheathing. A tar paper barrier between the sheathing and the hull
planks keeps 'em out of the latter.
Of course, it's a wet
job sometimes .. but someone has to do it!
A friend arrives, to
help saw some timbers .. and the houseboat begins to take shape
- although beauty is
still in the eye of the beholder!!
