Touring La Tovara
 |
Touring La Tovara is a combination of sparkling open waterways and
overgrown narrow passageways through the mangrove trees. |
Fishermen cast their nets into the waters of La Tovara to bring in
a days catch of a large variety of fish.
La Tovara is protected by the local fishing cooperatives and special
permission must be obtained before fishing in La Tovara.
-
Hint: Make friends with the local fishermen
and the friendly bunch
will probably take you out with them.

Along the banks of the La Tovara you will see a large variety of animal
life such as the large iguana pictured here.
The iguanas love to set in the bright Nayarit sun to warm their naturally
cold blood. |
| Large turtles also love to sun themselves and it is not rare to view
complete families of these turtles on top of a large rock or tree stump. |
